Betway is the South African arm of a global betting brand, run locally by Raging River Trading (Pty) Ltd under a Western Cape bookmaker licence first issued in December 2016. The name is all over SA sport: Betway is title sponsor of the Betway Premiership and of SA20 cricket, and an official betting partner of the Springboks.
What stands out
- You can run an account on cash alone: deposit at a Shoprite or Checkers Money Market counter or with a till-point voucher, withdraw by cash-send to a phone number.
- You can withdraw without a bank account. FNB eWallet, Absa CashSend, Standard Bank Instant Money and Nedbank Send-iMali all pay out to a phone number for cash collection, and a 1ForYou voucher works too.
- There are native apps for Android, iPhone and Huawei. The Android app installs as an APK from betway.co.za rather than from Google Play, and a data-free version is available.
- Our scanner collects match result and four total-goals lines on every soccer match we track with Betway, plus match winners on tennis.
Deposits and withdrawals
Money goes in by bank card, through Ozow instant EFT, or with an OTT, 1ForYou or Kazang voucher bought at a till point. Cash routes exist too: the Money Market counter at Shoprite or Checkers, Shop2Shop, and USSD.
Withdrawing needs FICA first: upload your ID (both sides if it is a smart card or driver’s licence) and a South African bank statement no older than three months. Betway’s own FAQ quotes document review at up to 24 business hours. Once verified, you can withdraw by EFT to any bank, by cash-send to a phone number, or as a 1ForYou voucher. FNB eWallet withdrawals are processed immediately and reflect within 24 hours. Bank EFT takes up to five business days, per Betway’s own FAQ.
Odds and markets
On the competitions we compare, Betway prices soccer 1X2 and over/under goal lines, and match winners on tennis. The margin and coverage figures above are measured from odds Betway actually published. They refresh with every scan.
Good to know
- FICA comes before your first withdrawal. Every licensed SA betting site works the same way.
- Two group companies hold the licences: Raging River Trading in the Western Cape and Eastern Dawn Sports (Pty) Ltd under the Mpumalanga Economic Regulator, licence 9-2-1-09658.
- The site and apps also carry casino games, including Aviator. OddsBash measures the sportsbook only.
